Customs Information

Procure to Pay Services supports the compliance of Customs Importing for the University.  All goods imported into Canada are subject to brokerage fees, customs duty and HST depending on the type of goods, end use, location of manufacture and mode of delivery (including samples and free items).  

The Customs Importing Guidelines provide a comprehensive overview of what you need to know. Sections include but are not limited to fees, what is duty, import requirement, penalities, personal shipments, receiving imported goods and credit card orders.

Personal shipments imported into Canada and addressed to the University are NOT permissible and will not be cleared by the University's customs broker.  

Students in residence are allowed personal shipments THAT MUST BE addressed as follows: 

Student Name, Residence Name, Room #, 923 Robie Street, Halifax, NS  B3H 3C3
